Eyebeam Research and Development (R&D) develops emerging technologies, and extends existing ones. Their broadly interdisciplinary work is sustained through partnerships with academic institutions, corporate labs, andartist-inventors. Courses, apprenticeships, and special events give students, professionals, and the general public direct access to the R&D process. Ongoing R&D topics include social network theory and viral media, rapid prototyping technology, surveillance technology and new models for learning.

Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center is a non-for-profit organization founded in 1977 to cultivate artistic talent using electronic technologies. Harvestworks' programs provide the artist with production studios, grant opportunities, education, communal lab practice and distribution. Their 2000 square foot facility is designed so artists and students can gain an understanding of how to use digital tools as well as how to conceptualize a project. Located in New York City, Harvestworks offers a creative environment where artists learn new technologies, create art, and exhibit new works in an integrated way.

Rhizome.org is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 1996 to provide an online platform for the global new media art community. Their programs and services support the creation, presentation, discussion and preservation of contemporary art that uses new technologies in significant ways. Core activities include commissions, email discussions and publications, this web site, and events. The Rhizome.org community is geographically dispersed, and includes artists, curators, writers, designers, programmers, students, educators and new media professionals.
